[文摘]:Dry deposition velocities from the ADOM (acid deposition and oxidant model) module for SO2 and NO2 are compared with measurements over a deciduous forest, a carrot field, and a snow surface. The model is found to yield larger values than those obtained from the measurements in all cases. Increasing the magnitudes of the ADOM original values for the stomatal, cuticle, ground, and snow resistances and decreasing the NO2 mesophyll resistance and the leaf area index yield improved model results, particularly for SO2, reducing the error by a factor of 5. It is concluded that the new estimates compare favorably with those from a model with Wesely's canopy resistance parameterization. Over snow the NO2 estimates are improved by a factor of 6. Observed deposition velocities for SO2 vary from 0 to 0.65 cm/sq s over a deciduous forest, 0 to 0.60 cm/sq s over a carrot field, and are generally less than 0.05 cm/sq s over snow. (O.G.)

[文摘]:European and Asian foods for international space missions were investigated by evaluating sensory qualities. Selected Russian, French, Japanese foods were prepared and evaluated by a taste panel for acceptability. Entrees, soups, desserts, vegetables, salads, beverages and snacks were evaluated on the basis of appearance, odor, favor and texture. Food samples were scored on a nine point hedonic scale. The result for the food samples comparatively studied showed significant differences between quality characteristics, foodtypes and compared groups (trained panelist and ethnic panelists) for the Russian and French food samples. The Japanese food samples indicated a significant difference between quality characteristics only at the 0.10 confidence level. Japanese foodtypes and compared groups were significantly different at the 0.05 confidence level. As a result of this study, forty three Russian, thirty five French, and thirty seven Japanese foods were identified as possible candidates for international space missions. (ESA)
